Overcharging, Stealing, Blackmailing Frauds

It all started with me being transferred to Chennai from Bangalore on a very short notice(5 days). So, I needed to get my 3 month old bike transported over there. Time was a constraint so could not ride it to Chennai. I got the number of a lot of Packers and Movers from JustDial.

So, the call came from the most Machiavellian businessman Mr. Manunath(Paradise Packers and Movers) who wanted to charge extra on the standard rate, I was being offered by others. He told me that since, the bike was almost new he would require some extra papers to prevent it from being stopped at inter-state borded. This was new information and when I bargained he gave me the ready reference of reviews on Sulekha.com( FYI: Sulekha.com policy states that no negative reviews would be published, they publish only positive reviews, unfortunately I did not know this at that time).

Anyhow, impressed by the honesty and salesmanship shown by Mr. Manjunath I decided to go ahead with them. From there on begins my worst nightmare:

  1. While collecting the bike the boy who came asked for Rs.100 for petrol. I was told the bike was to be taken to Domlur barely 5 Kms but the boy told it would be taken to outside city limits and demanded Rs. 100 petrol. My friend decided to pay him however, warned him of any joyrides noting the KM reading in odometer and expilcitly informing him of it.

  2. On being asked whether the helmet can be sent as well he was replied in affirmative. Delivery of bike promised very next day.

  3. To my horror instead of receiving the bike the next day as Mr. Fraud(Manjunath) had promised I was told could not be sent today bluntly due to excess load. After profusely apologizing he said next day delivery for sure.

  4. Shock of the life when next morning it was said delivery would be made in evening and in evening the original excuse was repeated again.

  5. I get the bike 2 days late and to my utter shock it had been driven 150 kms. On confronting Mr. Manjunath he plainly refused to take any responsibility and said we did not drive it even though original odometer readings were explicitly pointed to the collecting agent. All he kept saying we did not do it, rest you know.

  6. I did not get the helmet and asked for the helmet, he says its in Chennai office and you will have to go and collect it.

  7. Evening I ask for the office address and he says its in Bangalore and will be delivered very shortly.

  8. Now the blackmail began by Manjunath. He said the helmet will be delivered only if the rest of home appliances are transferred using our services otherwise it will be sent in due course of time.

  9. This has been continuing over a month, the helmet in question is not expensive but was important for sentimental value. Yesterday, however I decided enough is enough called him up and told him to hell with him, his company and had to let the helmet go.

At the end of it I paid more than I should have for a premium service but did not get the goods on time, they were tampered with and on top of that cargo was short of the helmet. On top of that I had to endure the blackmail and lies of these frauds.

So, beware of Paradise Packers and Movers and if I may say beware of people who give Sulekha.com reviews.
