What is so good and the best about Parineeta? It’s woven dearly, tenderly and passionately.
The movie is a love nest, and this is the best about Parineeta. The best is the way ‘love’ is depicted… in the movie, each one is obsessed with love, still the way of loving, expressing it, hiding it, nurturing it and taking care of it… is super abundance.
Vidya is eye-filling, enchanting, kissable in most scenes, fetching, inviting, irresistible, and coveted by two men in her life. Shekhar is a soft-hearted yearner. He has affection for Lolita, as a kid; with time, grows fond of her, cares for her in his adolescence; woes her through the window and waits for her while she returns from her work; then this great care and growing affection turns into love, while his heart is aware of it, he has his special and manly way of letting Lolita know.
Saif is the best thing, which has happened to this movie. Having fallen in the character completely, may this be his best movie. There are beautiful scenes, where Shekhar drinks as he misses her and craves for her badly; he would rather break the glasses in the midst of night, cry and sink into his heart...
The smallest nuptial ritual performed by Saif for Vidya, is a beautiful sequel and the subsequent love making scene of the two is simply melting, in the most tender way.
Fortunately, this bond of matrimony remains solely with the both. Lolita enjoys staying in wifehood for her lifetime… she takes to the conjugal knot that she ties with Shekhar on that one beautiful night. And, Shekhar has the perfect hands to hold his Lolita and accepts her wife by making love to her on the same night.
Girish, played by Sanjay Dutt, is elderly, an affectionate lover of Lolita. Girish adores Lolita from the time he sees her, understands her situation well, lately her clause of matrimony, which she has already signed with Shekhar to remain in the wedding rites played with Shekhar, though she never takes his name in front of Girish. While, Girish is envied by Shekhar on his offer of helping to Lolita’s family, equally Lolita is suspected on mentioning his name or his help.
Good are its characters being played beautifully, so beautifully that the audience can write one chapter each on the characterisation of Lolita, Shekhar and Girish? Lolita’s sister Raima is like tutti-frutti, while her cousin is equally bubbly.
The songs are beautifully written, sung melodiously, and well-placed in the movie, specially the one… Raat Hamari To; and Soona Mann ka Aangan.. Kasto Mazza is when the love is fresh and peach-like.
The movie sardonically begins with a wedding song, for it’s about a state of wedlock one can decide to stay in for long hours and long nights. It’s hard to convey, but Vidhu Vinod Chopra has certainly done it, he has pictured the vast canvas of what does marriage mean, how large it can be for many.
