Park Hyatt Rocks

We recently went to the Park Hyatt Goa during the month of May. Due to the extremely crowded season at Goa, we decided to go off season. The wifey decided on Park Hyatt (24 K for 3 nights - all meals included) and we were off with our 3 year old son. I had heard some good reviews but the place was awesome. A tip though - some of the non sea facing rooms are a better proposition - especially the ones overlooking a lagoon. Absolutely lovely view!!!

a. POOL

HOT: The pool is pretty cool - with 3 levels and a separate kiddy pool.

NOT: People getting into the pool without a shower, and the pool side bar is exactly that - pool side, a sunken bar would have been awesome.

b. ROOMS

HOT: Very well done up, they clean 2-3 times a day. The sunken bath area and the shower on the ceiling are a treat. We had a view of the lagoon, it was just awe inspiring serene. They shown ESPN, yiippeee!!!

NOT: No latches on the shower room, beware if ur travelling with a lil boy like we did.

c. EATING JOINTS

HOT: The Palms - the beachside sea food place is superb. The lobsters were divine. I suggest the basic butter garlic prep.

NOT: They don’t serve mashed potatoes as a side dish. All places should be forced to serve mashed potatoes!! And it is not cheap, we blew up around 8 grand on a couple of lobsters and a bottle of Chilean red wine.

d. FOOD WITH THE PACKAGE.

HOT: Wide range - continental to north indian to even Jain food. Quality was decent.

NOT: Crowded!!!! Getting hold of a table is a task. The egg chefs are’nt the greatest...they managed to bum me out by getting my single fry overdone two days in a row.

e. SPA

HOT: Greater ambience, soothing music, ginger tea - the works.

NOT: The massage itself was average, over priced at 2.5 K.

f. BEACH

HOT: Limited people, superbly clean.

NOT: Missed the vendors a bit..:-)

By the way, all you guys with little kids, they have something called Hyatt Camp which has got tons of activities for the kids, it even has a small theater where movies are on every 3 hours, and they sterilize the bottles, so get rid of that cumbersome sterilizer.
