Are hotels not supposed to help in SOS need?

I believe that in hospitality industry, when a customer seeks some SOS help, that is the testing moment how is the culture of the hotel in providing the help. I will cite one incidence which happened in my this stay. I missed collecting my two shirts which I had given for laundry and called them after reaching Bangalore requesting them to send it by courier. They asked me to transfer Rs 500 towards courier charges and I did the fund transfer accordingly. After repeated reminders, I got the information about the details of the courier. But when I received the courier, I was flabbergasted at the fate of the shirts. The shirts were directly wrapped around a thin muslin cloth and my address had been written by permanent marker on the muslin cloth and that left the mark on the shirts. A basic courtesy demands that the clothes should have been wrapped in a polythene cover. The transit vagaries of courier had further spoiled the shirt. I sent messages to them a few times on mobile expecting their response but no one responded to my sent messages. I believe that this is the hotel you can expect to stay for all other reasons it possess but for a courteous service.
