Ok! Ok! Before we start discussing my open indecent proposal to a multitude of MSians, let me clarify that its just a word play at the beginning of the review… ummmm… something like fore play at the beginning of you know what! AArggh!! Such stupid double entendres! Sorry people! You have to blame my now over active right brain! Its so weird, I am always going wrong since that happened!
That’s it! Enough of my bad puns! I was just telling Adi about how I spent my new years eve with my hubby, Mayunk! Pizza, Appy Fizz and a sinful chocolate dessert! Usne pucha, yeh Appy Fizz kya hai? Aur maine kahan “Appy Fizz nahin jaante?”, in the vein of PSPO nahin jaante! What sacrilege! And now that I check, he has written about Appy! Toh maine socha main bhi behte reviews mein apni pyaas bujha loon!
Appy has been a perennial favourite of mine! The time when frooti became more and more popular among the new breed of tetra pack juice drinkers, I was always an Appy loyalist! Maybe it had to with the fact that mango juice or milk shake was made at home and easily available! But apple juice, that was new! I love the clear, golden colour, the refreshing taste that epitomizes Appy!
Phir somewhere down the line Appy just disappeared! I tried to make do with HPMC, real apple juice available at all stations in Mumbai, but I just didn’t enjoy the taste! And I waited and waited to find my Appy back on every shop counter! So it did! And last year mid, another version of it hit the markets, Appy Fizz! I saw the ads splashed over on hoardings etc! But every shop we went, they asked yeah appy fizz kya hai!! Aaargh! Every time I saw the pretty black bottle in the ads, I would tell Mayunk, please yeh mujhe chahiye!
Finally one day, that elusive drink caught our eye in a shop and it wasn’t an ad! Very happily we carried the bottle and chilled it! Then we finally had a taste of Appy Fizz! It was worth hunting for it! Simply put, it’s Appy with soda! But the way it bubbles and as it fills your glass, looks like champagne you are having. Pour it in a wine glass, and it looks like sparkling wine! The taste is super! If you like apna Appy, you will definitely like Appy Fizz!
It is bottled in a curvaceous bottle with black cover and a hint of golden liquid showing through it. It costs 25 bucks for I believe 300ml, which is more expensive than your regular aerated drinks, but it’s quite worth it!
So if you are a teetotaler who doesn’t even drink or enjoy wine, at a party just carry your garibon ki wine look alike, apna Appy Fizz and just sip away!
