My recent wonderful experience at PSK Malad is forcing me to write this review. For renewal of my daughter’s passport, I decided to try it my on own without shelling out Rs. 800 which the agent was asking for. I applied online and the website suggested what documents I need to carry and submit. Just to countercheck the documentation, I called up the toll-free number and got very good response from the customer support agent. I got the appointment after 20 days.
As the passport was not urgent, I applied for normal passport. The initial screening process at PSK Malad was pretty fast and cleared counter ’A’ within 45 minutes of entry. However to clear next 2 counters - counter ’A’ and ’B’ it took longer (3 Hr+). However the new seva kendra is well maintained and being air conditioned, the wait time did not tire me and my daughter at all. The government officials were quite courteous and they cleared the application immediately without much questioning. Being normal passport, I was expecting the passport to be delivered in 1.5 to 2 months (at least this is what the agent told us). To my surprise the passport got delivered within 7 days. It is almost like getting it on ’Tatkal’ basis without paying additional Rs. 2, 000. I am amazed by this efficiency and want to praise all employyees of PSK Malad for such an efficient and quick service.
As the new process is completely computerized and managed jointly by TCS and government, I am wondering what value the agents now adds in this process. I think any computer literate person can do this on his/her own without unnecessarily paying agent commission.
