Minor passport renewal - Bangalore
I filled E-Form in https://passportindia.gov.in, registered and uploaded documents.
I tried for getting appointment but failed.
Since it is for minor passport renewal, I tried ’walk-in’ appointment.
Note: We can walk-in for Minor Applicants if,
1) below 15 years of age.
2) both parents have valid passports
3) we bring printout of ARN (to get this we must register online first atleast a day before)
Time slot for walk-in appointment is 9.30 am to 11.00 am.
Here is my experience.
I reached PSK Lalbagh morning 8.05 AM on 28th Feb 2013 along with my child.
To my surprize there are only 5 people in queue.
I joined queue, thought I will be standing till 9.30 am. I was wrong.
8.30 am security guard opened the door and sending people in. I showed ARN printout and said minor passport renewal. No questions asked, I was sent in. There were many counters but only first from right is open. It is written Tatkal. I asked security guard if ’normal’ applicant can go there. He said all are same (only) counter open. After 5 min, I showed my ARN print out. He asked Passports originals (1 applicant 2 parents passports). copies, then Aneexure H, then proof of address.
I brought all possible proofs of address (I was lucky to have all). BSNL bill , Electricity bill, Water bill , Indane gas bill. A bill must be present month and one year or more older. I brought all bills. He took BSNL, Gas bills copies. This process completed in 5 min. I got a token starts with W. (which means walk-in appointment) and a file. Others are getting tockens S, N etc. I dont know what that means.
I went into a hall and sat in a chair at 9.00 am. There are screens displaying token numbers. Next is 3 step process Counter A = Counter B => Counter C => Exit
I was called in to A counter. That lady is not smiling and a bit grumpy. She took photo, took finger prints, signatures mechanically. 5 min. Paid 1000/- fee.
Then we went to another hall and waiting.
9.15 Am they started calling tokens. But I heard that ’officers’ will come only after 9.30 am. It seems one officer came at 9.15 (thumbs up)
My turn came at 9.45 am.
The lady officer asked me about my wife. When I came an year back, my wife was not allowed by security guard. He said only one parent is allowed. I said the same to her and said so my wife did not come. She was surprised and said for minor both parents have to come. I said the same again. She asked me Annex-H. I gave. She verified signature carefully. Verified all documents. 5 to 10 min. Then I again waiting 15 min. for counter C.
Counter C lady, again verified documents, originals. Clarified something with next counter guy. Finally finished the process and marked police verification because our passport last issued was not in Bangalore.
I came out 10.30 Am.
2 days later I got call from police station for verfication.
I went to local police station. Again all originals, photostats, annex-H, 2 photographs, address proofs(present, one year old) ( + "e-x-p-e-n-s-e-s ")
Done.
it is just 5 days till today. I am waiting for passport.
Overall experience : Good & smooth (if you have all necessary document)
Suggestion: Bring ALL possible documents originals that you have. No matter it is required or not.
