After much research I finally found out that the latest way to address passport issues was through PSK which means they havnt properly reached out to the audience which is surprising considering everyone has a passport and needs this information. Their phone service too was shoddy and the person on the line wasnt very informed about the process.
Their website though user friendly and provided all the information required did not let me log in and track the status of my request, after multiple tries I decided to hire and pay someone to complete the process for me.
After getting my interview at PSK, I luckily did not have any issues with the documents as I properly researched and asked around for the documents required. However my experience there was compromised by the delayed wait , I was there from 10.30am to 3.30pm. This was made worse by the fact that they have a half hour lunch break, which I understand is necessary, but they did not have shifts and they returned to work 15 minutes late, which meant people filled up and the process was delayed. There are 3 counters one needs to go through, A, B, and C..I had a terrible experience at B2 where one Mr. P Ravindran sat. As my signature had slightly changed over 10 years, he hurriedly told me to fill out a form and write and sign that this was the case. He wasnt as clear as he should have been about this process so I asked where to get the form and would I need to go through the process again, he very rudely said that everyone is also sitting and waiting and also asked if I am educated and that I should know what was required.
I was horrified at his reaction as he was straight out loud, demeaning, extremely inappropriate and unprofessional. There were people sitting all around, getting their papers checked and this man was unreasonably loud and offensive. When I tried to explain that I just wanted to know the process and he should calm down, he went on to say "why are you prolonging this? just go do what I am telling you". After arriving 15 minutes late, hes suddenly concerned about peoples time? For an elderly gentleman to talk to a woman of 28 like that is just shameless behavior . He saw my bachelors and degrees and asked me if I am educated, in that manner? A man who is doing his job at his age, in a service industry to speak so harshly to an educated, young woman who could be his daughters age was to me just disappointing to experience.
I could easily have forgiven the wait, and the website and phone service but face to face service from a private institution working for the government, who are there to provide assistance, I am sorry to say changed my whole experience for much worse. The rest of the service is forgivable if you dont expect too much. Get your documents in order and expect a wait but apart from that I must say the place was clean, somewhat organised with token systems and it is a definite improvement on the old system.
I would have rated it a 3 if not for that "gentleman".
