Doctors are supposed to be your life lines and angels from God in times of despair but am sorry to say I felt like the scum of the earth when I went to see Dr. Patankar for my fertility issue. I am 39 and have had a baby earlier, my husband and I wanted to have another baby but because of my Obesity and Hypertensive state we wanted to take a medical advice.
Dr. Patankar was recommended by a distant relative who had undergone her removal of the uterus. We reached the hospital and waited for my turn - there were about 25 different couples there waiting for their turn. I was ushered into a room where a Jr Doctor sat to take my details - so since I started my menstrual till date - I was made to narrate everything to her - not once but thrice.
She made some judgemental statements for which I could have sued her but we wanted to see the big guy. After an animated 45 mins of conversation we were ushered into the big man’s cabin - he sat there with 3 other assistants (I felt like a lab rat) - before I could sit (literally) this is what he said "No No forget about having a child, you cannot have a child, you are obese and hypertensive, too many problems!
Even if you think of having a child I don’t think it will survive (YES), there are too many complications in your case - so just forget about it, there can be miscarriages and diseases - so dont think about it - ok?"(I was still in semi sitting state - with tears in my eyes and a broken heart).
My husband was crushed and speechless. We came out of the hospital and drove for a while in absolute silence. Doctors are supposed to be your dream bearers and Dr. Patankar was anything but that. WHO gives him the right to talk like that to anyone? WHO gives him the right to shatter someone’s dreams? Is this a trade for you? Have you no respect for the person you are speaking to? Are we a thing for you?
Very disappointed with the said person and would not recommend him to anyone ever. Dr. Patankar - there is a lot of difference between dealing with animals and dealing with humans.
