Pathermari is a family drama written and directed by the national award winner Salim Ahamed starring Mammootty, Sreenivasan, Siddique, Salim Kumar, Joy Mathew and Jewel Mary. Pathemari is the second Malayalam film released through Eros after Life of Josutty.
The movie tells the story of Pallickal Narayanan played by Mammotty. He is from a poor family and bearing all the responsibilities on his shoulders, he migrates to Gulf during his teenage itself. Every time when he comes back to his hometown for vacation, he wishes not to back to Gulf again so that he can settle in his hometown and live rest of his life. But nothing works as he plans and after every vacation he is forced to go back to Gulf.
Salim Ahmed’s previous flick Kunjanandante Kada was not up to the mark when compared to his first flick Aadaminte Makan Abu. But Pathermari excels in all forms. The director concentrated on the emotional content of the movie and it worked out big time. There were many touching dialogues.
Madhu Ambat’s cinematography was excellent and he was successful in capturing the vintage. Rasool Pookkutty’s sound design adds extra beauty to the movie. Bijibal’s songs and background score was too good. But the makeup by Pattanam Rasheed and editing by Vijay Shankar was not up to the mark.
Take a bow Mr: Mammootty. It’s a real pleasure to watch this man doing entertainers as well as class films at regular intervals. Pallickal Narayanan will be another milestone in his acting career and another addition to his impeccable records. He is undoubtedly the Titan of Indian cinema and no one can replace him. Siddique excels in his character even though he is not in the movie throughout.
Pathermari is an excellent movie that shouldn’t be missed from the theaters. I can’t predict about the box-office success of the movie but am guaranteeing you that you won’t be disappointed after watching the movie.
