My experience at Patna Medical College was far from satisfactory. Despite being one of the oldest and most well-known medical institutions in Bihar, it seriously lacks in terms of basic management, hygiene, and patient care.
The hospital is extremely overcrowded. There’s no proper system to handle the large number of patients. Long waiting hours, unorganized queues, and confused attendants were everywhere. It felt more like a chaotic marketplace than a hospital.
Cleanliness is a major issue. Wards, bathrooms, and even the general surroundings were poorly maintained. For a medical college, this was very disappointing and even risky for patients recovering from illness.
Staff behavior was mostly unhelpful. Many nurses and support staff were rude or indifferent. Even when patients were in visible discomfort, it felt like no one cared unless you kept pushing them again and again.
Doctors are knowledgeable but overworked. There’s no doubt that some of the doctors are good, but due to the crowd and lack of system, they barely have time to properly diagnose or communicate with patients.
Final Verdict:
Patna Medical College needs a serious upgrade in terms of management, hygiene, and staff behavior. Just having a reputation is not enough when basic patient dignity is not maintained. I would not recommend it unless absolutely necessary.
