My experience with Paytm has not been good at all. I am a seasoned online shopper and have used may sites such as Amazon, Flipkart etc. But Paytm has been a disappointment. They cancelled 3 out of 4 of my orders for books and that too about 10-12 days after the order was placed. In another case, they have shipped the wrong product and I am currently trying to get them to do something about it.
Pros: The cashback feature and the convenience of the wallet - these 2 features attracted me to this site. While the wallet is easy and good, the site does not easily tell us how to transfer the money back to our accounts. As for the cashback, try checking the price of the same products in parallel windows in other websites - it is usually lower. This site raises the prices and then offers a cashback so it works out to almost the same price. By the cashback, they ensure that customers shop more in Paytm in order to use up their wallet balance. Very smart!
I have not tried recharges or bill payments from here so I can’t comment on that.
Cons: High cost, Long shipping time, High rate of cancellations(in my case), poor product range, site lacks user friendliness.
I have decided to somehow withdraw the cash remaining in my wallet and stop using Paytm. There is no dearth of good reliable online shopping sites.
