This is a Historical movie about the PazhassiRaja of Wayanad region in Kerala. The movie is about the Guerilla war against the British(1800-1805) which made serious damage to the British army in this region. The movie starts when the British captures Pazhassi Raja’s Palace.
This is claimed to the costliest Malayalam film ever made. Story is by MT Vasudevan Nair and directed by Hariharan. Music by Illayaraja.
Mammootty plays as Pazhassiraja, Sarathkumar, Manoj K Jayan and Suresh Krishna does the other lead roles. In any movie or story like this, the Army Head will be the most important person and Sarath kumar( played the role of the army chief of Pazhassy Raja) outplayed everybody by his excellent performance. [I think Mammootty fans are a bit unhappy about this.:-)]
The cast selection is excellent and everybody has done good work. There are 3-4 songs( I don’t even remember), and none of them are good. May be they added it to avoid it becoming a Documentary film.
The shooting locations, filming, sounds and background music are also done well.
Except for the Songs I liked the film. Though its a bit lengthy.
Watch it once to know the story of Pazhassy Raja and to see the performance of Sarath kumar.
