Yes-- it serves bad beer (slightly improved recently), and its small and dingy and the seats are coming off and the loos are bad and the service slooooow.
BUT-- its still one of the few (if not the only) pub in bangalore which u can walk into without giving a damn about what you are wearing or how u look or about how much you may end up blowing up. it may not be a big deal to many people -- but to impoverished students it does make a difference.
and the MUSIC, the MUSIC-- at Pecos, music really is your aeroplane. it all about the good old rock and roll and the blues -- about the Allman Brothers and Lynnard SKynnard and Shakti. its not about listening to the latest music (no matter how mindless) at the maximum permissible decibel level.
and the FOOD-- of all the pubs in Blore that ive been to (and with some trepidation I confess to having seen the inside of most:)) Pecos has the most affordable food. and some of their dishes are generally acknowledged to be amongst the best in the city.
as for the service-- it may be slow, but then at Pecos, they never expect you to pay the bill and be gone 5 mins after u finish the drink. u sit for as long as u want -- so long as theres not too much of a rush and guzzle away. and the after a time, u see the same faces again and again and it begins to feel kinda cozy (as opposed to hep and happening).
when u take all this into consideration, is it really very difficult to understand why old Pecos fans dont care if the beers bad and its small and dingy (and according to some stinky) and the loos are bad and the service is slow :))))
