I have been a typical middle class indian who has been tentatively testing the waters by purchasing from the more familiar Ecommerce sites Flipkart, Myntra, Amazon. So far so good. Honestly, the experience that I have had from these e retailers has been fantastic. Ocassionally I have ended up getting delivered wrong products or with wrong details. For the past 5-6years I have to admit that all the etailers have given excellent service and the experience was fantastic.I therefore have taken up shopping over the internet for all things including my grocery.
This is my first bad experience from an E Tailer who is not only selling defective products but absolutely not taking any responsibility for selling defective products on its website.
My trouble started when I thought of purchasing a wall clock. My sister suggested to look up on Pepperfry.com as there were quite a few Advts on the TV. Being used to Flipkart and the like, I unassumingly ordered a clock from PepperFry and just to ensure a good quality purchased one of the more expensive one displayed on their website. I ordered the clock on 8th Dec, the product arrived on 18th Dec. I unpacked it and inserted the battery provided with the Clock. Within half an hour I noticed it was losing time. The battery was of the clock manufacturers’s brand.I decided to replace it with a better one.I put a duracell in it. After 1 hour the results were the same. I immidiately realised I have been cheated and initiated a return on Pepperfry.com website. Pepperfry.com had displayed a "7 day Easy return policy" no hassles. really!. Anyway I was assured that I will get a refund easily based on my early experiences with Flipkart, Amazon etc. I waited for couple of days for any responses . In the meantime I was being bombarded by text messages from Pepperfry.com regarding their latest deals and offers.I still am recieveing offers daily filling my inbox with text and mail. One thing you have to hand to Pepperfry.com is their marketing and advertisement. Its another matter that they are selling dodgy stuff on their website for which they take no responsibility for ensuring the customer get the quality products they pay for.
After couple of days when there was no response I called up Pepperfry.com helpline. This is when I got the first shock where the call center lady cited Policy to say that Pepperfry cannot do anything about the product as it is under warranty from the clock manifacturer.After a lot of argument where there was complete refusal to refund my money for the defective product they supplied I was forced to talk to the clock manufacturer. Who smartly said if you want a refund or replacementthen you have to talk to Pepperfry asyou have not purchased from me.
Its more than 15 days since the defective clock was delivered but still no sign of any refund or replacement!.
My worst experience of purchasing products online. Avoid Peperfry at any costs. if the product is defective or bad quality then you are done for.
