Well I first heard about pepperfry.com even before it was launched back in December 2011, this was nothing supernatural considering the fact that this was a venture by none other than former eBay India chief, Mr. Ambareesh Murty. This was a high profile eCommerce venture of some sorts and accordingly the expectations were running sky high since this wasnt exactly the first time that they were in business and were familiar with the business they were getting into.
The first time that I got to get a first hand experience of this Website was on the 5th of January 2012. Obviously they had a welcome promotion going on back then through 200 pepper points and I took the benefit of it.
They mostly had put up a host of products under Furniture, Home decor, clothing, Fashion accessories etc etc and have now expanded and added the Health and Beauty section, Kitchen appliances, a Kids section, Jewellery and lots more in all these 5 months.
Well when I had placed my first order with them, something funny happened, they had shipped the articles on time and I had received the Air Way Bill Number(AWB No.) for the same as well, but on the tracking website of the courier service, it always showed that the delivery had been attempted and premises was found closed.
I was taken aback as there was not a chance of that happening anytime since somebody was always around to receive the package aback at home, I called up the head office of the courier service since the local numbers were not to be found on their official website, where I was given the phone number of the local courier office. I contact that number upon which I was told that the package was with them and they couldnt deliver the package for a reason. I gave him my complete address and location and he showed up with the package in a couple of hours and guess what, it just had my name and the city name on it. Not the name of my building or the locality or my phone number, of which I had taken complete care of giving it to them while placing my order. Just my name and the name of my city. I was obviously disappointed by this debacle from their end and just let go off. I continued to receive promotional emails from their end week after week but I gave it a pass considering the first impression of carelessness I had about them in my mind.
But then, one fine week, I again happened to receive one of their promotional mails in which they had mentioned(Flaunted) of their new range of health and beauty range of products. That promotional mail also contained a coupon in it(Thanks again to pepperfry). I browsed through their various section and bought myself a Lifescan One touch Select simple glucometer from them along with another product and the price for which I had bought it, it was almost impossible to get the same or anywhere near it in the offline or the online market. This time I just prayed to myself that they dont repeat history yet again. They shipped my order on the 6th day of placing the order with them, and it reached me through Bluedart Courier service in under 3 days. But this time, the address had been properly furnished, the packaging was excellent to say the least, it was a brand new sealed box, it also contained a proper bill with the mention of the companys VAT and TIN number on it, contained the usual 10 sterile lancets, 10 testing strips, the manual booklet and the warranty card to be filled out by us . Out and out it was a very satisfying experience buying from pepperfry.com and that kind of upped them in my eyes and they gained my trust and confidence in them. After that I have bought many items from them like Scented Candles, Room Fresheners, Cupboard Fresheners, Induction Cooktop(Yes I did), A simple 3 lid mixer-Grinder, Blood pressure monitoring machine and other stuffs. And they never gave me any trouble over any orders placed with them in all of these 5 months that I have been buying from them. The products are genuine and so is their service. Thats the reason that I never had to contact their customer care to solve any grievances since they gave me none of it. best part is that they even have a live chat option to help resolve their customers queries and grievances and also have a toll free number as well. These are the signs of an excellent, customer satisfaction driven enterprise to me.
