Naam bare darshan chhotey!

One of the biggest problems with the Indian start-up culture is the sheer lack of quality service; Pepperfry is no different! Read-on to learn more about my experience with these guys:


10am: Message from Pepperfry that the order would be delivered today(along with contact details of the delivery guy)


10:15am: Called up the delivery guy and explained to him how, being a working professional, I need the delivery ASAP, preferably before Noon. The guy says no problem!


12Noon: No delivery yet


12:15pm: Second call to the delivery guy – says he is almost there, will reach soon!


2:00pm: Still no delivery – I had to finally ditch the idea of going to the office, thanks to a friggin’ side table that costs just over 2k


2:30pm: Third call to the delivery guy; says "I’ve just entered your colony" – finally he was telling the truth


2:45pm: Having received the item, registered a service request at Pepperfry’s number


3:40pm: Receive a call from the installation guys and I again commit the mistake of asking the operator to arrange for installation ASAP; the operator says that the guy would reach in less than half an hour


4:45pm: No sign of the installation guy; tried calling back for service request at the number from which I received the call an hour back, but no reply


5:10pm: The installation guy finally arrives and starts working on the table immediately


5:45pm: The installation guy tells me that one of the parts is missing and that he needs to ask his senior; after a lot of back and forth, I’m informed that the installation cannot be completed today because one of the parts(a channel blocker or something) is missing. Having taken all this bullshit for a whole day, I decide to register a complaint telling the Pepperfry operator how I cannot take another day off tomorrow and how they’ve wasted my entire day and that too without any concrete results. The operator lays down the return policy for me – the return is supposed to take place during business hours over the next 2 days - GREAT!


In a nutshell: For a Rs. 2500 side table, I had to take a day’s leave; due to their lackadaisical attitude, it was realized no sooner than at the end of the day that one of the parts was missing. Given that it was so late in the evening, these guys have the audacity to ask me to devote another working day of my life just to ensure adherence to their return policy. Great going guys, you just lost a customer!


The only reason I’m giving them 2 stars is because the product at least seems to’look’ decent - durability would be tested over the next few months but given the thickness of the frame used(or the lack of it), seems this is not going to change my opinion about these guys after all.
