Soda Blues

A “berry” beautiful taste with a vivid blue color. When I think of the color blue, I think of a heavenly picture of peace and serenity. So, what does this have to do with Pepsi? Nothing really. The blue-hued, berry-flavored product has nothing to do with the symbolism of blue, other than the color of the liquid content in the bottle.

<Taste Test> Sure, I’ve tasted the product and find it to be a little different than what I expected. While it does not have a bad taste, it definitely does not generate a BOOM! BOOM! “cola fusion” effect.

<Market Strategy> According to Dave Burwick, Pepsi’s Senior Marketing Vice President, this product is aimed at the youth market in teen oriented places, and the Internet. To be honest, I think this type “cola fusion” will be very appealing to the younger generation. After all, there is a commercial showing green, pink, and blue butter. Can you imagine?

<Pepsi’s Trademark Color> The Pepsi Company is also planning (or has succeeded) in the trademark of the blue color for their product (Pepsi Blue). This is not unusual, MGM has its “lion’s roar, ” MSN has its “butterfly, ” then there is the coca-cola shaped bottle, not to mention the many trademark symbols of restaurants – McDonald’s, KFC, Burger King, Taco Bell, Dominoes Pizza, etc. So it definitely would not be a surprise if Pepsi trademark its blue color.

<Overall Rating> On a scale of 1-10, based on taste and color of the product, with 1 representing “Not Good at All” and 10 representing “Explosive Good Taste, ” I would give the taste of this product at least a 4 rating. The color, I would give a 10 rating, reason being, blue is a very beautiful color. And the price of this product is very affordable.
