A nice movie overall. At first, I thought..oh no ! not another adventure movie...but this one is different. It is based on a real event (somewhere in the NE part of the US).

The scenes/settings are very real life. The way the fishes (sharks et all) are processed is really shocking. If you eat NV, then this scene will make you feel really squeamish about eating them again. Very gory...a sorry sight. Makes you wonder how we differ from animals.

The whole movie deals with people, their ambitions and the supreme power of Mother Nature. Makes you realise how really (in)significant you are in the Scheme of Things.

The hero is a captain, who wants to make a name for himself & his crew by netting the largest & the most number of sharks ever. For this, he has to go beyond the normal fishing routes. This he does when a huge hurricane has started developing nearby. Once they catch their sharks, they realise that the refrigeration system in the boat has conked out. So, they have to return immediately else all the fish would rot. But, if they do this, they have to go thru the storm. They decide to brave it out and sail thru the storm. Sadly they fail to do so and they all drown.

A very touching ending where the director shows what being human is all about. Helping out ur fellow man even at the risk of losing ur own !

And of course, the special effects are cool. Some really funky scenes of the boat riding a huge wave etc still remain fresh in ur memory.

Makes u really respect (& even fear..a bit) the ocean and Mother Nature....

This movie is certainly a must-watch.

Nice acting by all...George Clooney is the captain.
