Going down with time

Persian Durbar came well recommended so I took my family there. I guess time has taken its toll cuz I had a far below expectation kind of experience.

The ambiance was dark and dingy. We were given a table next to the wash basin and kitchen door, despite there being space in the air conditioned section. There was a lot of traffic on this section, completely ruined the experience.

Its a totally con game from the moment you enter. We had a steward take our order and we asked him for recommendations. he recommended two dishes. we realized the con when we saw the bill. both were billed for 400/- when the average price of non-veg dish was 325-350. so when they recommend one should definitely pass and order from the menu.

The service was very poor. Food came one dish at a time. Veg starters first, non-veg folks looking here and there. when non-veg starters were served, the veggies were biding time. same with the main course. no course discipline in serving.

Food. the less said the better. very greasy and no flavor at all. the non-veg dishes were of the quality you find in Muhammad Ali road footpath. and all was loaded with oil. the meat was under cooked. Firni was good but highly overpriced at 100/- bucks, same with sweet lime soda(100/- bucks)! what are you - Taj Lands end?

The staff is loud, uncouth dirty and unhygienic and they will address you are sir so very loudly only in the hope for a fat tip. which you will certainly not pay when you see a 10% service charge on your bill. As soon as you sit, they will start hovering around on your head asking you to order as soon as the menu is in your hand. Very intrusive. as soon as you finish main course they hover for you to order dessert. They will not let you be in peace.

I have heard good things about it, but those may be earlier experiences. Presently its an out and out con game. They charge only for the location, cuz the food quality is below average. Go a little further and eat at Shazan in Khar. they are also expensive but worth it and far better ambiance. Stop a few meters short and eat at Lucky’s, bad ambiance but good food and service.
