Pete Sampras, is one of the most calm, tennis player I have seen, Although I have a liking for boris becker. What amazes me the most, was Pete’s consistency in winning tournaments.
I read an article in sportstar, when somebody questioned him saying, he should add a little bit of glamour to his style of playing, he stated that he would prefer to be a tennis player than a star . What I love about pete is that , although he would have been 2 sets down he never gives up. Especially the last US open he won, was an amazing game.
There are are lot of players, some good at serving, some good at forehand returns, but rarely we get to watch players who are a combination of all this, which Pete is. Hence he will always remain one of the world’s greatest tennis player.
Above, all he will always be remembered for the kind of dignity he lends to the game. especially no screaming, no oooohs aaahs etc. The deadly single handed backhand return , which is amazing, considering many players use both their hands to return backhand. Being 6 years on the top, especially in a competitive sport, like tennis is great.
