There is such a thing as Rajnified. It’s a feeling of joy, celebration, punch dialogues and a kind of no-bs-Heroism that only “Thalaivar” can showcase on the big screen. We experienced this Rajni-Phenomenon in our childhood, teenage and college years. Somehow in the past decade, the directors have forced their narrative sacrificing this phenomenon instead of elevating and showcasing what we know in our hearts to be a “Thalaivar” style, mannerism and heroism. Finally after a decade, It has taken a self-confessed fanboy director, Karthik Subburaj, to deliver that Rajni-phenomenon and charisma that we all identify with in a story that has shades of all his best movies and a climax that elevates our Super Star to a whole new level. The movie contains three mini-movies inside them. One happens in college. Another happens in flashback. And finale, in North India. For a Rajni-fan, that’s three-in-one bonanza. Each of these mini-movies has their own character set, a start, middle and end. The music is unique and yet familiar. Anirudh and Subburaj interspersing the college storie with old songs is an excellent directorial touch that roots the audience even more. The Petta Velan Rajni , especially the funeral scene, makes you want to scream with joy. This is what we have been missing. The second half could have been reduced by half hour but the climax makes up for it. The scene between Rajni & Vijay Sethupathi shows the tremendous actor that Thalaivar is. Even if you are not a Thalaivar fan, this movie will keep you glued but if you are a Thalaivar fan, this is 7-course meal with delicious items you can feast on for three hours. Petta Paraak!
