Philips c20 is too old phone but its has a better

It has come to the stage where my parents want to enter the technical era. I have recently sorted them out with a DVD player(which worked out to my advantage) and now my dad wants a mobile phone. My mum says that it would be a good idea for him to have a phone so that she would be able to call him when he’s out cycling and also he would be able to call home if he had a puncture of something.

I brought this on ebay second hand. It has been used before but it is in good condition. I chose this phone because I had it for my first phone and I knew that it would suit my dad for his needs. I think mobile phones are becoming too technical nowadays and are fine for those people like myself who keep up with changes but for someone who has never had a mobile phone, having one that can take video and pictures will be far too much for their needs.

This is a perfect phone for some one like my dad who just wants to make calls every now and again.

The mobile phone is black in colour and has a two line screen which looks tiny compared to my Nokia 6600 but my dad isn’t phased by this.

The phone has all the basic features you need.

The Phone Book is really easy to use and you can store 100 numbers in. There is enough room to add one number to one name. My dad has entered a few peoples numbers but most of the time he will enter the number in manually and press the green key to dial it.

I don’t think my dad uses any of the other features but I will list them:

There is a facility to set an alarm to alert you each day.

The Bio-Calendar is like a mini horoscope. Enter your birthday and it will give you a forecast for the day of how lucky you will be etc. I think this was meant to appeal to the younger generation when the phone first came out.

Other features are a handy calculator(my dad adds up in his head so this facility isn’t used)

Even thought the phone is very old model it is capable of text messaging. I have shown my dad how to use this more than a couple of times and I don’t think that he really see’s the point and would prefer to call someone and speak to them in person. I found text messaging really easy to use. It is slightly quirky compared to the newer phones that are around but it does the job. You can send cute little pictures with the text message. These come with the phone and you can choose from a present, a heart, a face, a cat, the sun etc. The only thing with sending the picture with the message is that it costs more and people with a different phone will just see something like this::)

Overall this phone is great for those who don’t want anything too technical. If you can use a handset land line phone then you can use this phone no problem. There are many to buy on ebay. I paid £15 and it is a pay as you go phone. its a good and awsome phone I think phillips should stat again this phone
