Philips DVP 320 - Great Buy...Know why

The model is actually Philips DVP 320.

I bought it sometime ago and boy am I impressed!! It is a cute little machine weighing maybe around 300grams or so. It supports only one disc at a time. but for 4990(now it is 3999!) it is great.

Like the ad says...Plays anything....well almost is absolutely true.

I have played the DVD, VCD, SVCD, MP3, Picture CDs(just jpeg files on RW!), CD-Rs, CD-RWs, DVD-Rs and so on. The list is almost endless. you can’t do this even on high-end Sony DVD systems(although they are in a different league).

I had a scrathed DVD which did not run on my friend’s Akai system(did not even detect the DVD!). But, this one just played it without any problems. It is too good. I have really no words to praise it. You can carry it outside and connect to an AC or battery and run it hassle free.

The remote is also a cute little thing weighing maybe around 25-35grams!!

The functions are really easy to understand as there are not too many of them. Just the standard ones like subtitle, angle, audio, system and disc menu, root menu, display setting etc. Also supports Dolby Digital format.

Special Feature:

You can lock upto 6 discs(irrespective of whether they are DVDs, VCDs or even CD-RWs!!).

You can set a password and if you say Lock the disc cannot be played until you key in the password(digit password). This feature is not available on any system I know. You can use it to prevent say a child or your parent from watching discs you don’t want them to see!!

It can also remember where you have stopped your disc(that too for 6 discs) so that it can resume from that point later on.

I am telling you...its just amazing. And all this for JUST Rs. 3999(latest price) its definitely worth it(actally worth more i’d say!!).

The sound quality is good but don’t expect it to work wonders in a home theatre setup. The picture quality is crystal clear. I saw absolutely no difference in picture between this one and a high-end sony player my friend owns. It does not support DTS though.

For that price it delivers more than expected. It can be the the best DVD player comparable to high-end systems.

I would say instead of investing 20000 or 30000 on some fancy hi-fi system go for this one. I certainly recommend this one to anybody looking for a DVD player. Go for it and feel the difference!!

enjoy
