Didnt know much about the DVD format so went for the price and portability. Though the lack of sliding tray bugged me a bit everything was honkey dory for the first 6 months .Then it started to act coy. Loading time became very high and it began to reject most of the dvd discs of the local disc wallah. It started to need frequent cleaning. Recognition of discs became a matter of probability and beleive me we in the family frequently had bets as to whether a particular disc would be taken up or not. Took it to the dealer thrice and it is currently still in the garage. Actually this Philips product is a big let down and I shall certainly not recommend it to anyone.I hope the company sees this and desist from taking the lay Indian customers for a ride.Picture quality is fairly good I must admit but the sound is pretty ordinary.4900/-- down the drain even for a entry level cutomer like me.
