I was somewaht perturbed to read the review. Iam a satisfied user of the DVD player from Philips (model 622). I had a huge collection of mp3 music on my hard disk which I put on a CD using my comuter’s cd writer. I played all of them without a problem. I even played back picture cds that had not been finalised by the cd writing software.
i think the gentlemen’s system requires a firmware update available from the Philips web site.
The player has good LED display but could be improved. there are ports for expansion, the coaxial port is especially useful to connect an AV receiver. It would work very well with TVs that have progressive scan.
i even connected my active sub woofer that has seperate ports for left and right channels, the sound is an improvement over the TV speakers.
At this price I cannot think of any negative to say. I have not had any ’’encounter’’ with the service people yet.
