Good Value for money!

I had bought this player about 7 months ago for 3400/- in Bangalore and find it quite usefull.   The picture quality and sound is quite good as compared to LG player I had before.

I am using the player to play movies from an external hard drive.  It does play movie files from any device, I have tried it with:

1 External hard drive with external power source

2 Pen drive

However, it has a con when playing It with a external laptop hard drive which derives power from the USB port.   The port embedded in the player is not a powered USB port so cannot give power to any device,  Hence an external drive which requires power from the port would not work!

The player does play movies stored in a flash drive or a pen drive, which does not require any power.

It also has a limitation while playing an external USB drive with external power, that it cannot see NTFS partitions.  The external drive would need to have two partitions and first partition would have to be a FAT32 with space of 31GB.  If the partition is created more than 31 GB the player would not be able to recognize it and no files would be seen.  Files from NTFS partitions would have to be transferred using a computer to the FAT32 partition to be seen via the player in the TV.

Overall the concept is quite good and a similiar setup using a computer would be quite cumbersome and expensive so it’s value for money!
