Philips is a relatively new entrant in the Indian mixer / grinder market dominated by Sumeet. At home, we had been quite steady with Sumeet for many years. Recently, when our earlier machine started giving problems, we decided to get a new grinder just before Diwali. On an impulse we decided to opt for Philips, which incidentally gave a good trade-off for our old machine.
Friends, let me admit my impressions as a user are limited (a typical hands-off from kitchen man), but from what I hear from my dear ones, the machine is quite good and upto the mark.
From a design point of view, some features are worth highlighting. The HL 1641 model has a round and symmetrical base with vacuum pads below to firmly anchor the machine to the table / base. Space occupied is less compared to the L shaped design adopted by various manufacturers There is a thoughtful drain attachment on the machine receptacle to protect the motor from possible leaks from the grinding jar situated above. Lastly I found the styling good and aesthetic.
I am confident that the machine will be durable considering Philips quality and reputation in electrical & electronic appliances.
