Keep away

I baught Philips HTR 2000 home theater mainly because it offered me 5.1 channel home theater at an attractive price(6500Rs). But this was a trap. It stopped working just after 10 minutes of setting up. I spoke to Philips service in Bangalore, They were Pathetic. I had to threaten them saying I will approach consumer court to get a person examine the set. Finally he examined and confirmed that it is a manufacturing defect. I was told that it will be replaced in 2 days. They did nothing for 10 days. Every time I called up service there answer was pathetic. Finally after 8 days, I was fed up and gave mouthful to both service center and dealer. I returned the set back and purchased HTR 5000. While I was returning, I saw ther were more than 5 people returning faulty HTR 2000’s and HTS 3000’s. HTR 2000 and HTS 3000 are simply bad designs. Here is why: 1. They are class b(analog) amplifiers running on unregulated transformer based power supply. 2. The Amplifier cabinet is too clogged for the amount of heat produced. 3. There is no ventilation(Fan) for amplifier. 4. They are made in China. This bad thermal design makes the main controller IC(MOSFET) a strong candidate to burn off. My experience and advice - NEVER BUY HTR2000 or HTS3000
