Unreliable, low quality, product by Philips

I am a regular Philips customer and had been a happy one so far till bought Philips Infraphil 150W Lamp from amazon.in on 05 OCT 2014 after reading about the supposedly good benefits of infra red massage in relieving muscle pain.


However, if failed on the second usage itself on 23 OCT 2014, aggregate usage being less than 30 minutes. As the warrantee mentioned was 2 years, Philips customer service, which was informed of this on 23 OCT 2014 itself,  has been hopeless with no help despite 3-4 reminder mails. The authorized service center has responded that no warranty is there for the IR lamp, and 2 year warranty is applicable only on the cheapo plastic body and lamp holder + on/off switch.


The warranty conditions are not mentioned anywhere on the Philips India site and the standard exclusions mentioned on the site do not include the Lamp. it is written somewhere in the instructions manual, which can be accessed once the product is bought.


It is a sorry state that when even the cfls costing less than Rs. 100/- have one year warranty, an item costing more than Rs. 2000/- does not have any warranty, and this vital fact has not been highlighted any where on Philips site to forewarn the customers before they take a call to buy. On the top of it, there is a no customer support.


There is no difference between a cheap Chinese product where warranty is till billing, and such products from Philips stable. For me, now will be forgetting that Philips exists.


So, be aware about the risks before buying a Philips, lest you need a support. It may not be there.
