Back to mouthshut after a long trip to the US. I would like to put forward my views about Philips juicer which model no is hl1631/j.
As my mom was advised by doctors to have stuffs which contain vitamin A, the first thing that came to my mind was carrots. But biting off those carrots wouldnt be an easy job especially at the age of 55 years, so we decided to buy a juicer.
The few brands that struck my mind were Jaipan, Bajaj, Philips etc. I went through many online shopping portals, and found the best deal on Snapdeal for Philips Juicer where in the entire set up cost me Rs 1, 600 with a non-sticky pan.
The set up was delivered at my door-step. We unwrapped the order and initially found it difficult to set up the device as there were many fitting but somehow we followed the guide and landed fitting it up.
Now let me explain in depth about the pros cons and the dos donts. Ease of Use: As i said we initially found it difficult to fit the various parts, and we had to refer the manual guide that came along. But once we got hold of the fittings, setting up the device was simple. Still i would say the initial set up was a bit confusing as to which part should go where?
Durability: The fitting are majorly made of plastic, and is very strong. Just the blades have to be taken care of as well as the down part. The down part is basically the motor which helps the blade turn at a high speed. Major part of the machine is made up of plastic so its durable to an extent, but once the blades and the motor is damaged than have to be replaced. So just the blades and motor has to be taken proper care of.
Ease of Cleaning: After making juice my dad cleans it, and is very easy to clean as there are various parts which can be detached and washed nicely. After every use the juicer is cleaned nicely and there isnt any problem while cleaning it.
Style & Design: It looks are good and nothing great to boast about. First sighting it seemed like a water purifier, but not bad either. The design is perfect as there are many detachable parts and very light. The fitings are good and design is high class and its expected as its a philips product.
Service & Support: As we bought it from snapdeal there wasnt any demo which was performed and we had to do it on our own. But one thing i would appreciate is the 2 years warranty that we got on the product. Been using it for past 3-4 months, and till now its going great guns. The service and support was descent as there were proper follow ups.
The product was very compact and not bulky. We always preferred compact juicer so we opted for this one, after considering Jaipan and Bajaj juicer this one seemed the best.
The juicer with 500 watt power helps making healthy juices, but one thing that dint impress me was the quality of juice. On the first day we made pumkin juice as it helps bringing the blood pressure down, but the quality of juice was not upto the mark as there were fine particles of pumpkin present. One more time straining was needed inorder to get perfect juice.
The blades are quite sharp and rotate at very high speed, and till now the blades are very sharp. We have tried making pumkin juice, carrot juice, apple juice, grapes juice and pineapple juice.
Pros:
The juicing is quick, and within minutes we get juice. All thanks to the sharp blade.
The juicer being compact occupies very small place in the house and can be lifted by anyone.
Cons:
The fruits have to be cut into small pieces as the inlet is small so that made the work even more tedious. The outlet is also small, and less juice comes out.
The juice had to be strained one time extra and coudnt be consumed directly for superior quality juice.
For a first time user, the fitting gets very confusing especially if the manual guide isnt available to refer to.
One more drawback was that the seeds have to be extracted before inserting the fruits in the juicer. It used to get irritating especially while juicing out watermelons.
Things to do and donts:
Always keep the blade and motor safe. Dont insert fruits with seed as the blades get blunt after sometime. The last time that i made watermelon juice the blades got a bit blunt.
Conclusion:
A good option but not the best!
I would rate it a 3 star.
A good design and juicing power is a deadly combo especially for a juicer!!!!! Go for it if there isnt a better option than this one.
