Lot of money well spent

Hi guys,

I started thinking about replacing my old 25’’ BPL TV in Jan 04. I immediately started thinking about a bigger size and since 29 is not too bigger then 25 I was looking at 34’’ onwards.

I saw a lot of projection TVs which are really hot today but in their case I would say that size is not really everything. I checked out Sony and the other projection TVs but the picture quality was really bad when compared to the picture tube sets.

I then checked out the plasmas which looked really great hanging on the walls but alas budeget constraints. I had then almost decided on the Sony 34’’ Drc tv but then a friend suggested I go check out phillips pixel plus TVs. Just finding a pixel plus at any dealer was a tough job. However once I saw the pixel plus and got a chance to compare it with sony drc I was hooked.

Amazing, and I mean amazing picture quality, in fact the depth in the pictures visible on this Tv is out of this world. Somehow the tv technology imparts a 3d effect to the pictures. You can strictly compare picture quality only if you have the TVs sitting side by side with a similar cable/DVD connection (because once you take a Tv home you are happy with the picture as it is a stand alone item) so please compare 2 tvs only in this manner.

Anyway the Tv cost me a packet, it was 70, 000 (and I could easily have got a 42’’ projection tv for that much) but believe me it has been worth it. The colours are radiant, the blacks are really shining black, in fact it seems as if you have suddenly got a better pair of glasses (the people who have been wearing the same spectacles for 10 years and then are recommended a new pair with a slightly higher power would understand what I mean).

The sound quality is great , the looks are awesome and the features available on the Tv like, freeze, PIP (four modes), replay, zoom. auto picture fill, photo finish etc are to be seen to be believed. So guys if you plan to buy a new TV (and you cant afford a plasma) please do check the philips pixel plus out before you make a decision and I am sure you will end up thanking me for this review.
