The return of hera pheri

Along side Fanaa , Krrish , Dhoom 2   and KANK, Phir Hera Pheri is undoubtedly one of this year’s most awaited flicks at the BO.The feeling is undoubtedly the same amongst audiences I’m sure, and let me say that it doesn’t disappoint! The film is an almost flawless comedy which will have the audience grasped to their seat right until the very end.

THE STORY

The trio of Raju, Shyam and Baburao (Akshay, Suneil, and Paresh) has made a lot of money; they decide to invest it in a flawed, risky venture despite protests from Shyam. The scheme obviously goes all wrong, this lands them in a new exciting situation in which they have to run for their lives to save themselves.

Analysis

The film is based on the South movie ’’Ramji Rao Speaking’’ and the movie has a very tight exceution written superbly by Neeraj Vora! The film’s greatest strength is that it takes the most preposterous and enjoyable elements offered sparingly in other commercial films, and serve them up in spades.

Take, for example, the way in which the film’s characters arepresented. Paresh’s character has a quality about him that makes him all the more interesting and appealing to watch and root for; he’s certainly much more engaging a character than the smiling, upright, one-dimensional characters crowding the Bollywood commercial film scene today. Most of the credit for this belongs not to the writer or director, but to Rawal himself; he hits all the right notes at all the right times. His performance is exactly the kind of crowd-pleasing tour-de-force that is needed to carry a film like this.

And there is still plenty more fun in the film beyond Rawal’s character and performance. All of the comedy in the film is as outrageous as one can possibly imagine.Don’t go looking for a story because you won’t find one.Vora depends entirely on his screenplay and the complexities of his characters. What’s interesting is that the director doesn’t make the film one-dimensional by bordering it entirely on situational humour; every time he takes the effort to balance the show with drama thereby elevating the film to a new level and the credit for it goes to NV and his team of writers, who compliment each other beautifully. Besides coming up with a winning script, the dialogues are excellent as well.

Akshay is delightful besides having a great presence; this may rate among his best performances so far. Bipasha is amazingly restrained. Rimi’s role though predictable, adds its own charm. Sunil Shetty is the only role that appears half-baked and he only makes it worse.

Himesh´s soundtrack was poor enough to begin with, and not surprisingly, it results in the most unexciting videos.

All in all

Energy and inclination permitting, I would’ve loved to time-log the film’s deliberately demented, but frolic, portions you must intermittently catch and huff off for a smoke/cell-phone break. Try this one on a dead day. And chances are you’ll recover with a few embarrassing guffaws and quite a few full-grins.
