With Phir Hera Pheri, writer/director Neeraj Vora has given an original twist to what is probably this decades most popular comedy flick Hera Pheri.The movie has an interesting story, hilarious characters and funny situations aplenty. The humour, primarily kitschy, works quite well.
Plot: The roller coaster ride of the ’Phir Hera Pheri’, takes off from where ’Hera Pheri’ ended, retaining the original theme of the movie and also the chemistry between the characters. In ’Phir Hera Pheri’, the ’Hera Pheri’ trio, Baburao (Paresh Rawal), Raju (Akshay Kumar) and Shyam (Suniel Shetty) are looking for the best ways to invest their fortune they acquired in ’Hera Pheri’. Raju, who doesn’t lose any opportunity to strike gold, comes up with an investment option that would double up the money. The only hitch is that the minimum investment required is more than the amount they saved up together.
The solution: To come up with the money, Raju skillfully ropes in a couple of investors and adds an interesting jape to the whole experience without a hint that it will get back at him. Rajpal Yadav plays one of the investors who borrows money from a Don which causes the funny punch in the whole comic adventure.
The biggest reason for the success of this film is the chemistry between the three talented lead stars - Sunil, Akshay, and Paresh. There has been a great deal of tabloid publicity about the comradarie between these three, but here the audience witnesses this friendship first hand. Because these three actors connect well, their character interactions become that much more plausible.
Akshay is looking more sexier and hotter with each new release. His acting is better, and the comedic flair in him is fantastic. Bipasha and Rimi have little to do other than look good, but they do excel at this ’role’. Paresh is as hilarius as ever .Sunil fails to deliver!
The downside is the dreadfully unappealing music. The Himesh wailing scores are so bad that I wish that the editor had the sense to delete them all and turn this into a song-less movie.
Overall - this is good entertainment. Sure, a lot of the film is not plausible, but how many Hindi films really are?
In other words - PHP is paisa vasool to a large degree. Watch it for the performances and chemistry of the lead trio - all of whom should benefit from this hit film .
