There Was a time when we had not seen many A grade horror movies coming out but now horror genre is elevating itself in India too. In Hollywood, many horror movies comes out of which most of the movies comes out as direct to DVD release. What happened is that now we are running out of ideas for this genre thats why in Hollywood too most movies made are either Zombie movies like 28 weeks later and The lLegend or science fiction horror movies like Final Destination series. Even Japanese Horror are loosing steam with same kind of treatment. Now on Phoonk 2 .
2 years back Ramu announced a contest watch alone kind for Phoonk . Movie was good but not scary enough now after 2 years contest is back with Phoonk 2 but now the movie is scarier but not good enough. lets discuss plot 1st(I myself dont read plot but it should be part of review)
Plot: Rajeev(Sudeep) with his family (Wife-Aarti(Amrita) Daughter Raksha (Ahsaas) and son moves to new house. While his wife Aartii get involved in setting up new house and Children started the exploration of new surrounding with beach and connected Jungle to the house. Raksha while playing found a doll in jungle and bring it home with her. Rajeev’s son seen doll doing some weird behaviour seeing this Rajeev threw the doll away. Amrita isn’t feeling nice too as she keep hearing weird voices . Enters the Rajiv’s sister and brother in law (Neeru as Aarushi and Amit as Ronnie) in house . Just before interval Amrita get possesed by Madhus spirit and same he revealed to Rajiv. Than in post interval Madhu(Ashwini) took her revenge by killing many characters including Manja (an exorcist who helped rajiv killing Madhu in part 1) Than in climax( I should not reveal much even if I know not many readers are interested in watching this movie)
Conclusion: This one was scarier tha part 1 but in terms of content it falls flat. First half is very interesting with beautiful camera work and spooky location , Actually beauty of first half is that you cant guess what will happen next . Just before interval all hell break loose with Amrita getting possesed . What a good build up for 2nd half. But 2nd half falls flat due to its predictablity. You get to know what wil happen next just 10 minutes before it happens . Director had to play with audience brain to give them unexpected which was not the case here. Now spirit killed 2 tantriks without any struggle at all. Some struggle from tantriks should be shown . Climax is the biggest let down here but you have to see the movie to know why.
Performance : Sudeep is a very good actor . In Phoonk 1 he got unnoiticed but in Rann he shows his talent . Here too he played the role of frustrated and helpless man with aplomb. Amruta dont have much to do but he played the part of possessed lady convincingly. Ahsaas Channa again did the commendable job and she can be a very good actress too in future.Amit And neeru as Rajiv’s relative are just there to add more characters to the movie as spirit needs someone get died but they to did whats needed.
Direction: Varmas stamp all over it with characterisation to background music to camera angles . But still we should talk about Milind as his name is official. He did an average as a story teller and nice job as technician.

Final words:I don’t criticize movies or anything its easy to make fun but if you watch any movie you can felel how much effort is behind it . Horror fans can watch the movie but I expect better work from RGV even though off late his track record is average . Raat is still the best of RGV with Bhoot 2nd and others don’t deserve to be in that bracket.
