Pigeon Rapido ( Induction Cooktop )

I had brought this Pigeon induction cooktop plate( Rapido) about 8 months back from Adishwars at 3K. It was a good scheme and they offered a flat pan steel vessel and 5 ltrs pressure cooker along with it.

The main reasons for me to buy this product were:

  1. Getting a LPG Connection in Bangalore is not easy specially if you are not from here and do not have a ration card.

  2. Private Gas is very expensive( 650 rs for a 12 kg cylinder)

  3. I needed a subsidiary cooking device apart from the gas stove

I have been using it for the past so many months and have never faced any issues on using the product in use or any troubles in cooking.I had brought a delicate button based induction cooktop and not the full touch based since some how I thought that for cooking devices it is better not to use very delicate a product

Pros

  1. The cooking plate is large enough to accommodate a 5 lts cooker.

  2. The wattage is adjustable on watts or even on predefined cooking options( We always use on wattage since it can be customized)

  3. It is easy to clean and does not have any hassles even if food or milk spills over

  4. Does not have any open electric wiring so is safe

  5. Saves a lot of gas. Effectively we have been using it for almost everything apart from making chapatis, dosa etc which needs a tawa and gas.

  6. With induction base cooking utensils you can make everything on this.( Rice, curry, frying, milk boiling, reheating food etc)

  7. If you reheat food or milk in a utensil it does not burn the food item

  8. Additional electric bill only around 100rs more even after so much of use. Not changed the gas cylinder since past 4-5 months:-)

  9. Cooks fast for rice and milk compared to gas stove

  10. You can pick up the utensil even when it is cooking since it is not very hot as the heating is only at the base

  11. Requires very less electricity compared to normal regular electric plate

Cons

  1. Only flat stainless steel utensils or induction cooking compliant base utensils can be used

  2. Needs electricity and does not run on Inverter or UPS

  3. If you cook at very high range of wattage sometimes you get coagulated milk at the bottom which is natural since only the base gets heated

  4. Copper based, Aluminum based utensils can not be used

Overall

Pigeon Rapido induction cooktop is

  1. Value for money

  2. Good for modern families which have need for faster cooking

  3. Saves gas and money as it runs on electricity and consumes lesser than electric plate

  4. Clean and user friendly operation
