We had to move from Bangalore to a small town, some 400 km away. We asked quite a few vendors, including Pikkol, to survey our 3 bhk, got quotes from them and then decided to go with Pikkol. They were very professional during the survey, answered our queries well and even followed up proactively. One thing which we did, thankfully, was to have all their promises documented and emailed to us.
This was supposed to be a two-day process, one for packing and loading in Bangalore and the second day at the destination, to unload and unpack. Packing was done by a group of ten, overseen by a supervisor. The packing was similar to how other vendors pack and nothing super special, for the premium that Pikkol charged us. On unpacking, we found liquids spilled and a few other damages on other goods. We had not taken insurance, as we were assured the packing would be of "high quality".
Pikkol had outsourced unloading to another vendor. At the destination, this vendor unloaded all the boxes and left them unpacked, at our new home. The deal with Pikkol was to have the stuff unpacked as well. The person who we were talking to before moving, was not reachable, nor was the "move manager". Also, the truck driver wanted me to sign off on successful delivery. Shouldnt that be the responsibility of the supervisor at the destination? As the "move manager" was not reachable, I called the call center and was told that they had 40 other moves scheduled for that day and there would be a delay in handling issues reported by customers.
The " Move manager" finally called to say that unpacking was not really their responsibility. I had to dig up that email which summarised what they were expected to do, to have him call the local supervisor and get on with the unpacking. All in all, a stressful few hours.
What Im most surprised by is that no one from Pikkol has yet called me to ask how the whole movement went. No feedback form, no customer survey. If someone from Pikkol is serious about fixing their processes, you first need to start listening to your customers. The arrogance of "founded and managed by IIM alumni" will only take you so far.
So should you be going with Pikkol? You will get similar service (and stress) with most other local vendors at 30% cheaper cost. I wouldnt recommend these guys going forward.
