Why I think its a complete rip off !

I bought this atta thinking, it will have so many multigrains that are the whole kernels and the rotis will  look and feel considerably different .

At the time of purchase I knew it  had maize and soy and 5  other  grains including wheat.

I knew very well  at the time of  purchase  that corn and soy in all probability could be Genetically Modified as they generally are, but I was  helpless as there are no government guidelines to label foods  free  from GM foods. But there is so much GM food all around you will have little or no options left .

Normally I  read  the ingredients list very carefully when I buy my stuff but this time I was a little hurried and  the very fact that this atta would have 7 whole grains made  me content to make a quick unsuspecting buy .

On reaching home I realized apart from wheat which constituted  the major part of  this atta was  at 90%,   the rest of  the 6 grains, like oats, raggi, maize, soy etc were just at 10%, all combined .

The price  though was almost double to  that of a whole wheat atta .

The 5  kg pack costs 245, while a 1  kg pack cost Rs 50.

So in effect what pillsbury has  done is, thrown in a handful of  extra grains and ripped  your wallet  off .

I am attaching a picture of  the ingredients list pls, do have a careful look and tell me what do you guys feel. If  the atta is 90%  wheat, is doubling the price any justification.

Do you feel  the same way as I do? Its a rip- off .

I will go to the extend of saying, its almost a commercial sin .in the name of health. I feel  the manufacturers are completely aware  that those  who are health conscious, buy into health foods  have deep pockets too. Its exploiting us consumers .

The rotis were only slightly softer and had  almost the same texture and color.  If I didn’t tell you it was made from a multi grain atta, you would never know.

I would also like to inform you guys our modern wheat which is also referred to as  the franken wheat, though was  not genetically modified but genetically engineered in the 1960’s and  70’s .

It was  not a result of natural cross breeding but dangerous mutations of  the DNA by exposing them to a very dangerous chemical .

The new  crop is  not shoulder  high but just waist high nevertheless it yields 10 times more per acre but sadly the proteins like gluten and gliadin have been also modified in a -ve way .

If one wishes  to uncover the whole story check Dr William Davis out on youtube- The author of  the bestseller - Lose the wheat, lose  the weight .
