Amazingly bad food

I am a doctor in st. john’s hospital, ping is on the way to my home. Everyday I used to think that I should try this sometimes. But as we are a bit touchy about oriental food, we cant risk going to a dimsum restaurant and suffer bad food. The day I saw their offer on snapdeal, I knew its a good time to go there.

As it was a promotional offer we were expecting the best they can offer. When we got there on Saturday 8 pm, the place was empty ( it got filled at around 9), we were ushered very nicely to a nice. Good courteous staff, okay ambiance, tad simple to my taste then the food started, first was a fresh lime, it was lime cordial in water , not fresh lemon. The way we hate it.Then came the aromatic soup, the only aroma that was there was of burnt garlic.

Nowhere were the subtle aromas that you find in these oriental soups, that basil, thyme, lemongrass were nowhere. My wife, who is a manager in a five star, said if a Chinese restaurant goes wrong with their soup its like a punjabi restaurant going wrong with their dal makhani, we cant expect anything good now.The dimsums, well, were good. Good as in better than street momos. No aha moment. The springrolls, absolutely forgettable. The fried rice and noodles, ditto. the accompanying soupy thing, bad. Good Chinese food plays with aromas and subtle taste. This was ginger garlic fried chowmein fare.

A passing comment about the service. Very good. I don’t compare them to a 5 star, that would be unfair. but in their class , they were pleasant enough.
