I recently bought a Santro Xing and fixed this latest and sexy model from Pioneer. Its awesome and has a decent display unit which displays all the vital info including the folder and the file name in MP3 format. Its got separate functions for Audio setting and one can also set the personal preference for the Equalizer setting.
The feature that is quite appealing is the Cellphone Mute feature. When a cellphone is connected to this equipment, while receiving a call when the player is on, the song is switched to Mute and we attend to the call with least difficulty. Also, the player starts playing the song which it last played while switching the car off ! This player comes with bass boost known as Sub Woofer Booster and has Pop-up Rotary Volume Control which is very sensitive and provides easy access to control the volume.
The flip open to insert the CD is cool. And as usual, it comes with the detachable control to meet security and safety standards. The player almost plays all known formats in the market. I just wanted to add this to this review - ’’Price’’ factor !
This player is only available in the grey market in India, hence requested one of friend to get it from Dubai. The configuration I picked up for the my car stereo : DEH-P5550MP player + Pioneer 6’’x9’’ Oval 400w rear speakers + Pioneer 6’’ Round 150w front speakers + Philips tweeters. All the above came for 13K. If this was to be purchased here in Chennai, would have costed around 18K.
Yeah, thats the price advantage if bought in Dubai. I got the same configuration just a couple of days with DEH-P5650P player (just difference in looks) which came for 11.5K. Wonder why its even cheaper ? It was due to the rupee value appreciation.
