Some information

If you have every visited Disneyland, in Anaheim, California, you may have taken a ride called the Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of the Pearl. This movie is based on that ride.

The Stars

Johnny Depp plays Captain Jack Sparrow.

Orlando Bloom plays Will Turner, (a Blacksmith), and Elizabeth friend.

Keira Knightley plays Elizabeth Swann, (the Governor’s Daughter).

Jonathan Pryce plays the Governor of the Island.

George Rush plays Captain Barbossa, who is Captain who steals Captain Sparrow’s ship called the Black Pearl.

Jack Davenport plays Commodore Norrington, (who is engaged to Elizabeth).

The Plot

As Captain Sparrow sails into Port Royal, looking for a bride. His Ship, almost sinks. The Captain manages to save both his live, and the life of Elizabeth Swann.

His brave deed begins this swashbuckling movie. As all Pirate films, of yesteryear go this follows closely to them.

Will Turner owns a strange and wonderful medallion. The Black Pearl has been cursed and Captain Barbossa wants Elizabeth’s prize necklace.

Captain Barbossa and his motley crew attack Port Royal and kidnap Elizabeth.

Will and Sparrow combine forces to rescue her. To accomplish this the take the fastest ship that the British own, (the H.M.S. Interceptor).

You’ll Commodore Norrington in hot pursuit, (on the ship H.M.S. Dauntless). The three ships end up on the Isla de Muerta, a very mysterious place.

Along with a few romantic scenes you’ll see sword duels, parrots, crew members with peg legs. the hero’s swinging from the ropes of the sailing ship’s poles, treasures chests and a few villains.

My Thoughts

When I was a child I adored going to this type of film. We always hissed at the villains and cheered the hero’s on. I almost did this as I watched this movie.

Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio, (the Screen writers), wrote one of the best scripts I’ve seen in a long time. Their play on words was as sharp as the swords.

Johnny Depp was brilliant as was Orlando Bloom. I wish they make-up crew would have used a little less make-up.

At the end of the movie I felt I had an enjoyable time. Walt Disney remembers how to capture his audience and I highly recommend this film to you.

The music went well with the action on the screen and the Cinematographer shot some wonderful scenes.

You’ll want to open a bottle of Rum and yell, ’’Yo ho ho, I loved this movie’’!!!!
