Plaxo, galaxy of contacts

We have this internet/intranet facility within our organizational setup, where people are always connected thru web or email. Yesterday, I got email from my co-worker, who is a Chartered Accountant and he advised me to set my business contact details saying “I’m updating my address book. Please take a moment to update your latest contact information. Your information is stored in my personal address book and will not be shared with anyone else. It is free, if you’d like to give it a try. Thanks. P.S. I’ve attached my current information in a vcard. If you get that too, we’ll stay in touch automatically.” After going thru the details, I realized that this is an incredible facility that provides an enormous ease of use and is available round the clock and least of all, its free.

I am talking about Plaxo. Following is a brief detail about the origin and founding members of this great website: URL: https://plaxo.com Founders: Sean Parker (co-founder of Napster) Todd Masonis and Cameron Ring (Stanford-based engineers)

Origin: Plaxo, Inc., Mountain View, California. Contact Details: Technical Support: https://plaxo.com/support Media Inquiries: Darcy Hansen Bite Communications Darcy.Hansen@bitepr.com General: info@plaxo.com Corporate Address: Plaxo, Inc. 1975 Landings Drive Mountain View, CA 94043 Download file size: 500k Supports: Outlook 2000, 2002/XP Outlook Express 5, 5.5, 6 Windows 98/ME/2000/NT/XP About the product: Do you have any idea, what happens when your hard disk crashes and you loose some valuable information about your customers/clients, their positions, telephone numbers, mobile numbers, emails, fax, website etc.? There is so much information stored in those tiny looking address books of ours that we never realize to store in a safer place, from where it is easy to locate and recall. This is where Plaxo comes in to our lives and rescues us from those hard-disk or computer failures. Plaxo people say that “Plaxo takes the hassle out of keeping your contact list up-to-date.” Now that really means something. I started using this great site just two days back and realized that its more than an online address book.

Here how it works:

Update: First of all, plaxo sends update request emails to my contact list using my Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express address book using my selected or all contacts and inserts the changes into my online address book. Maintain: Secondly, plaxo maintains my address book by automatically keeping up-to-date information about any of my contacts that uses plaxo – no emails whatsoever are necessary.

Access: Now they are talking. Last but not least, I can sign in to access my address book, anytime, from anywhere. I can either update contacts by myself or send a request email to my contact to get updated information from him/her. This is called a true service provider. Yes, they are. Isn’t it great to access your contact details anytime, from anywhere with your own comfort and ease. There are those other facilities like ADD NEW ENTRY, SELECT ALL, UNSELECT ALL and DELETE SELECTED. P.S. By adding or deleting entries, only Plaxo address book will be updated, it doesn’t syncronize with MS Outlook or Outlook Express’s address book. Moreover, this site is a really handy treat for all those serious people out there who really care about their contacts. GREAT SITE WITH INVALUABLE SERVICE. Zoeb
