I have been reading about pokemon for nearly three years, find them to be interesting charecters. The stories show pokemon trainers(who are all youngsters aged 10 years and above) as confident and courageous persons. They make their own decisions, often in a very practical manner. The stories show the trainers as very affectionate towards their pokemon.Pokemon are imaginary, mostly animal derivative.A trainer is given his first (starting) pokemon by a Pokemon Professor of his respective region. The three regions are-Kanto(east in Japanese), Jhoto(west) and Hoenen(north).Pokemon graduallybecome attatched to their trainers and think for their good.Pokemon are like pets, only highly evolved and with their own powers.Trainers aim to become masters by wining their league tournaments in their region. They reach the League Tournament by receving 8 badges at Pokemon Gyms in their region. This can be accomplished, if the Trainers Pokemon are skilled at battle with other Pokemon and attain higher levels, the more they battle.
The stories about these trainers and their Pokemon are interesting to read in books, and comics(Scholastic Publications), watch the cartoons and play on the Game Boy.
To-date, there are, 386 typs of Pokemon, ranging from the cute Pikachu and Pichu to the muscular Machamp to the devastating Groudon and Raquaza.
The episodes being shown in India are only the earlier ones.I hope they start showing the ones with the new generation pokemon.
I, and a lot of my friends find that Pokemon are not any more violent than other cartoon characters, like Hulk, Superman etc. Will keep you updated on Pokemon.Bye.
