Pathetic Service @ Popular Bajaj Yediyur, Banglore

I gave my Bajaj Pulsar 150- 2004 model for a wash and general service including Engine oil check and brake lining check. I didnt have any other complaints for the bike. I was asked to collect the bike for service in the next two days. Usually, I would get back the bike the same day. When I inquired why it took 2 days for a general service, they stated that they had staff shortage and had also gone on strike a few weeks so, vehicles were also more.

I agreed and when I returned after two days, I was informed that the bill amount was Rs.2610. I was shocked and asked for the detailed bill. I came to know that the clutch plate had been changed and the bushes had been replaced. The other things included in the bill were wash, engine oil change, fork oil change, Timing chain replacement, clutch cable, clutch plate, speedometer cable change. All these things were never mentioned in the estimate.

I paid the cash and took the bike for a test ride. I found that the speedometer did not work, the indicator switch was not working and the clutch wire was not properly adjusted. I refused to take the vehicle and said I would complain to the authorities about it. The mechanic in the service station promptly refused to work on my vehicle and asked me to go as his shift was over. He asked me to come after 1-2 days as he was busy with other vehicles. On insisting, he repaired the clutch wire. But he said he didn’t have the speedometer cable. I then asked him how he had billed me with the speedometer cable for which he did not have an answer. He promptly went to another Bajaj Pulsar bike which was probably given for service by another person and pulled out the speedometer cable and worm assembly.

I asked him what he was doing, he said he was "fixing" my problem. I then received my bike with a working speedometer. I asked him why he took it from the other vehicle, to which he said that it was a known person’s vehicle and it was "no problem". I seriously doubt his words and am scared to give my bike for service there again, lest he remove the parts from my bike to replace other people’s bikes. Please be careful.
