Yes, the Cellular Jail has played a major role to make India free from the clutches of Britishers.
I live at New Delhi and in October, 2006 visited Port Blair via Kolkata. Its quite comfortable and memorable to fly over the sea which takes 04 hours to reach this rich area. The beauty despite Tsunami is beyond imagination.
It is magnificent, wonderful, splendid and once being there one feels the value and cost of INDEPENDENCE. A visit to Cellular Jail and specially seeing the Light & Sound Show in the evening helps one recalling the scarifices made by our brave freedom fighters to make us freewhich is taken very casually these days by us.
From Port Blair, visit to the Ross Island, Viper Island, North Bay, Cove Beach, Wandoor Beach, Fish Museum etc. gathers unforgetable and sweet memories. People and so gentle and helpful. Weather is fine. Availability of GOOD North Indian food is a little problem, specially at North Bay.
To me, you must visit Port Blair to Salute the great grand freedom fighters who fought for us.
