I was in Hyderabad in June and had the chance of watching Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban at the much hyped Prasads IMAX.We bought the tickets for the last show and me and my cousins were really looking forward to experiencing movies@IMAX! Much to our disappointment, the ambience was OK but the seating was horrible. One would expect a good and comfortable seating after spending almost Rs.200 on each ticket. The seating arrangement was not even close to that of the regular theatres in the city.
There are no aisles between the seats to move around ie from seat number 1 to seat 60 (or so) its one single row and so on for the following rows.
The person on say the 30th seat has to disturb another 30 people(left or right doesnt matter) if he/she wishes to go out.You cannot relax in your seat, there is only a lot of leg room with the screen(4 times that of a regular screen)hitting you in your face. The backrest is stiff and so you cant stretch your neck or your back while on the seat.
It is like attending a function in a hall where you dont pay and obviously wouldnt expect comfortable seating. So much to a hall claiming to be state-of-the-art ! They seem to have invested all the money on the screen and havent bothered about the seating AT ALL!
Movie-goers dying to catch a movie at Prasads IMAX will go home with a pain in the neck and have a hangover of the visuals on the screen hitting your eyes.
The experience is good as far as the huge screen goes but they must do something about the seating.Only leg room isnt enough. The seats must be comfortable too.
I wonder why they did not think that the seats need to be comfortable and in case of an emergency, the seating with no aisles (no gaps between 1-60)can clearly lead to a stampede!
