Overall Good Stay

We recently went on a family trip to Ooty.

A word of caution for choosing hotel in ooty - all hotels in ooty are overpriced compared to the service quality and comfort/luxxury offered. We did quite a bit of research and came across several ones with good feedback on diffrenet websites. But my dad insisting on a hotel in the middle of the town, we chose this one as it had the preferred loation besides having some good reviews.

Now to the hotel:

Being in the middle of the town, this hotel does not really offer any breathtaking view; though we were not really prepared for the sideview of the hotel that was seen from the rooms we took. We had booked in advance and had asked for rooms with at least decent view. on arriving, the service staff told us that such rooms were all booked while the front desk told us that those rooms were leaking(water from ceiling.whatever!). We went with the rooms we had and ordered tea(it was around 3:30 p.m.). The room service refused to oblige and said kitchen and hence room service will commence only after 4:00. the menucard in the room boasted 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.! On pointing this out to the(a)front desk, they said they  would arrange for the tea(b) room service fellows said they’d replace the menu card!. The tea took 5 phone calls to the room service and frontdesk, crying and cajoling and 40 minutes to arrive.

They seem to have a problem in serving tea/coffee in room as same ordeal was repeated again.

Although we were told that they’d serve non-veg, the menu-card in the room didn’t mention any non-veg items.  On enquiring, they sent a separate menu card(serving non-veg seems to be a well-guarded secret!). However, once served the food tasted really good and very close to the actual north-indian taste. Buffet brakfast was also quite good with only South indian stuff(idly, dosa, utthapam, pongal, vada) on offer - neat so to say.

Rooms and especially toilets are clean and reasonably well-maintained. Some crack showing up in the room walls but nothing major.

Good thing is people seemed to pay attention to the complaints and take action(albeit slow). Front desk was very helpful and polite.

Can’t comment on travel desk as we took own vehicle.

With some improvements in service and revamping of some rooms, Preethi Classic Tower will surely be one of the better hotels in ooty.

I would recommend this hotel but advise not to expect anything impeccable - one needs to be a bit patient. Overall makes sense to book this
