DOSA NEVER TASTED BETTER

Never before has something as ubiquitous as dosa been presented in such a delectable and appetising manner. It’s a modest place called prem ganpathy’s dosa plaza(I don’t know the source of its christening)at Vashi railway station. For those of you who didn’t know Vashi, before you mistake it for some jhumritalayia or timbuktoo its New Bombay. {New delhi is more famous, I guess}. Nevertheless, there is no other dosa plaza in Bombay that can beat this one and those who have been to this place can vouch for it. As I am writing this, I am anxiously waiting for my dosa to arrive.( I am reminded of pavlovs theory , Remember the one with a dog and saliva dribbling). Forget it! FIRST THINGS FIRST.It has ’’free home delivery’’ without making any big claims like 1/2 hr delivery or money back.I am sure it will arrive even before I finish this review.

AN EYE OPENER:- What happens when you cast a spoonful of DESI traditions and cultural motifs into a modern mould and whisk it liberally with global influences. Indians enamoured of the west, yet resorting to a quintessential homeliness and talking about hybridity will devour anything that’s got a touch of the west( but with a dash of indianness of course):It is an omnipresent aspect visible at the street corner where chinese and american chopsuey bhelpuri are served. Not only that we have veg burgers, allu tikki burgers (can you beat that)and Tomato omlette. How naive of me to think that Burgers meant non-veg and omlette was supposed to be with an egg.I won’t be surprised if in a year or so there are concoctions like lassi sundae or mish mash like Dal Roti Pasta.(Sounds tempting, does’nt it (:

PREM GANAPATHY DOSA PLAZA , inspite of being a perfect example of the afore mentioned para remains my favourite. What a hypocrite I am? aren’t I. Talking about how indians indianise everything and then go ahead and devour the array of dosas available at the plaza including chinese dosa, american chopsuey, russian salad, mexican ecstasy, french sandwich all in the form of dosas. For Rs200/- one can have a hearty meal and also top it up with some soft drinks. The place does’nt have a very good ambience, a very modest place as I said earlier. I can’t pick out a favourite dosa because all of them are yummy.............. The reality is that in order cater to the indian tastes we need to have a melange be it in the arena of fashion, music or FOOD. FUSION SELLS

Its USP

Its quality and value for money undoubtedly.I guess its better than the value meals and value packages available elsewhere which provide absolutely no value for money. I would like to mention a place called DOSA DINER. It’s steep man....Rs. 100/- for that junk, so what if it’s chicken dosa or prawn dosa.Ma ke haath ka bana hua chicken and home made dosas are any day a better proposition. It was all the more disgusting for me because I had travelled all the way from Vashi to Colaba(2hrs journey) just to grab a bite at dosa diner. It was a nightmare.Nothing special about the decor either, at dosa diner. So if you want to enjoy a meal at anytime of the day, or if it is one of those eating binges, you know where to go.

ONE VISIT TO THIS PLACE AND EVEN AN ANOREXIC WILL TURN INTO A GLUTTON. Oh ! My dosa has just arrived. Got to go. I’m comingggggggggggggg boss. Some food for tho_ _ _ _
