The story of The Present

I am not into self development books too much.. ve read only a few.. but I enjoy reading books by Dr. Spencer Johnson.. Dr. Johnson is the famous author of “One minute series” books.. also the international best seller “Who Moved my cheese”. He is well educated.. after his M.D. he completed his clerkships at Harvard Medical School…

His parables are brief, simple to read.. and easy to understand.. His narrations provide simple principles and practical solutions.. and they, I feel, are extremely influential..

While “Who moved my Cheese” has gone ahead and become a favorite with everybody.. “The Present “ is latest one from his series of books… again is lucid and could be finished in one read… but the interesting part is that you might need to re-read it again and again to understand the worth of the content!!!!.. just as the case with “Who moved my cheese”…

While “Who moved my Cheese” was about dealing with change in your life.. The Present is about ur life, at present.. (As the author himself puts it.. Different people get different things from The Present , depending on where they are in their work or life when they hear it… Of course, some people just don’t get it at all..) Although I would not claim that my life has changed for ever, but I would definitely say the book has helped me become more confident….

You already know what The Present is…

You already know where to find it…

And you already know how it can make you happy and successful..

You knew it best when you were younger…

You Have Simply Forgotten!!!!!!!!

That was just to give you a gist of what it is all about.. Dr. Johnson, as in “Who moved my cheese”.. gives his message with the help of a story.. Story of a boy.. who would go to a wise old man with all his problems.. The story lets us know about how the old man solves the young man’s problems without actually giving him any solutions but helping him to arrive at solutions by himself .. and that’s what is so good about this book.. It does not lecture you to do things.. Infact it makes you think…. You might finish the book soon.. but you would keep thinking about what was said in that book :O)

The entire story helps you understand why you should concentrate on things that you are doing currently.. Why you should live in The Present .. Learn from the past and prepare for the future.. instead of living in the past.. ignoring The Present and being afraid of the future… Of course, you might arrive at a different conclusion after going through the book!!

Hope “ The Present ” brings a lot of joy in your career as well as personal life :)
