Dhobi ka ***** goes online!

Ever Imagined that your Laundry Guy would have a website? Even better Accept credit Cards? And Give you actually a Receipt with various details fed in?

Actually There is! - Pressto Laundry Service! The world Leaders in Dry Cleaning! - Not sure about that but surely World Famous in India for cleaning your pockets Dry!!!!!!

You know each time I hear women go like "Men Don’t do any work at home", My Boild boils!!!

I just can’t stand the male bashing that goes on vilifying my breed and us you do our duties at home

so diligently yet women somehow seem to hold a poor opinion! Anyways - Me voimiting here ain’t changin anything! Me still would suffer from the usual wrath of women who think we are "good for nothing". So my bachleor woes continue!

So why did I got Pressto? Okay my Dear IFB washing Machine (reviewed here- https://mouthshut.com/review/IFB_Elena-163743-1.html) has thrown another problem amongst the long existing list there - The Temperature control has gone!

What basically happened is that the temperature control rather none of it existed. So instead of heating the clothes to 60" the machine went to 100C! And boiled my clothes for a good 15 mins at that temperature.

For the very upmarket, maid assisted liberated women of today - You see it makes sense to heat the water while your clothes are being washed - One it’s hygenic and it also softens hard stains! (See I know everything about washing clothes yet my marriage prospects remain bleak!)

But this time the machine literally boiled the clothes and when you use nylon or terricot - which most pants are made of it crumples and forms creases that just don’t go away through regular ironing.

And bachelor boy knows something about ironing as well! You see when you iron Black clothes for long they sort of leave a shiny mark on them! My normal dhobi who charged Rs 2 didn’t do a great job and all he did was to make the pant a shiny little black pant.

I knew he would mess up! So I went to a little sophiscated guy But he too refused as he believed that he couldn’t get the crease and was also aware of the shiny problem :( And guess what - He suggested his competitor - The new chain that’s opened in Mumbai - Pressto Dry Cleaners - The world leader in Dry Cleaning!

You see before you put the clothes in your machine you usually check whether it has some coins or paper left in the pockets? This time do worry about the coins! You might need them!

Because steam Ironing just that one pant cost me Rs 59!! Oh no Typo there~! My jaw dropped! Rs 59???? I asked him again "How much for one pant?" He said Rs 59. I asked again in Hindi- It was the same answer in English.

So he saw the pant and knew the problem instantly - And even before I suggested anything proactively told me that he would first check whether the crease actually goes - And he did use those machines! Some strange looking, long, big machines that resembled an operation table. And those iron tools looked real sophiscated mind you! And so did the individuals who were working rather using them seemed quite meticulous in their work with several areas of the cloth given time while the steam irons throws an occasional conspicous, powerful steam at regular intervals - This place seemed like some damn factory

And guess what? The sample area on which he pressed my pant! What no Dhobi could do! What my several years of bacherlorhood and the education, skills that come along with it could not do! They did it! They finally got the crease off! So it worked!

So is Rs 59 worth it? Okay take the complete package! - This chain is like a retail store and upmarket store where during right time of the day a lot of presently dressed women, who smell fresh off their parlour trip and polo shades, the very upmarket, Gucci, Louis Vuitton crowd comes to collect their Armani gowns.

On a serious note - This place does have top quality services so if tha garment needs a bit of pampering then do go for it!

And the interiors of the shop has some life and is quite an incentive to frequent. Also I felt quite strange collecting a bill for my laundry?? I mean usually you just pay off the guy with few bucks or the change in your pocket. But this was quite professional I must say. I had to sign copies etc. So the service is top class!

For Dry Cleaning it is Rs 69 for a Shirt so you could assume a Suit to be @ Rs 150......

Pitfalls

  1. Price - Obviously even the upmarket Delhi Crowd would find this obnoxisouly high! Rs 39 for a shirt??? Rs 59 for a pant??? If I iron my pant at least 10 times then @ Rs 590 I might as well pick up a new pant!!!!

2. Closed on Sundays! - For Chirst’s sake! How the hell could you be closed on a Sunday! I mean that’s the day I suppose most of us collect our clothes!

3. No home Delivery! - Gosh! I thought Rs 59 would include a butler like service where the individual would come over with a personalised delivery service and something like a "Rate the service" Card! But no!

Summary -

If you’ve got the worst stains on the planet where your lady has used Detergent resistant lipstick

or your kid loves to experiment with his food on your clothes or generally you’ve messed up with your garments then they could be used. Or you have that very special Armani Suit that needs the most pampered treatment and please go for it! Bt this ain’t your normal diet of dirty Linen washing! :)
